Polyester shortfiber is a new type ofcrack resistant and reinforced fiber specially developed and produced for asphalt concrete.It is mainly made of polyester as the main raw material,added witha certain functional masterbatch,and processed through melting,extrusion,high-speed spinning,and high rate stretching.Through special surface treatment process.Made by using a dedicated cutting
machine.Its appearance is a bundle like structure formed by the intersection of multiplesingle fibers. When fibers are added to asphalt concrete,there are complex interactions between fibers and asphalt, as well as between asphalt mastics and fibers.According to various theoretical analyses and extensive practical applications,it has been proven that fibers not only have a modifying effect on asphalt,but also significantly affect the toughness of asphalt mixtures,that is,they have the functions of modifica- tion,addition,and bridging.Significantly improve the resistance to rutting and low-temperature cracking ofasphalt concrete,and delay its fatigue life.
Polyester short fibers are not brittle or deformed within a temperature range of-40℃to+250℃ . Each fiber is independent and has strong adsorption properties with asphalt,which is also a petroleum product.They have good adsorption and dispersion properties in the medium.When 2250 gramsof warp are added to each ton of asphalt mixture,up to 1.8 billion fibers will strengthen the mixture in a three-dimensional manner,providingtremendous cohesion and improving the quantityand service life of the road.The uniformly distributed reinforcement effect of polyester fiber monofilament in the mixture increases its stiffness and improves the fatigue resistance of asphalt concrete.
